Apollo is the centre of skateboarding in Kyrgyzstan: filmer, skater, father and co-founder of the country's only board brand. He started skating while at university in China, where a crew of international skaters got him his first setup and hooked him for good; the board became his key to the city, to local friendships and to the language. Back in his hometown, skateboarding introduced him to the OG skater, artist and filmer who became his best friend and mentor. Together they launched a local brand: his friend handles the graphics, Apollo handles the board production. He also picked up the camera to film local and visiting skaters. In his words, skate videos are time capsules: people might eventually step off their boards, but the footage keeps that era alive forever.
