Road Trip to Ventura, Final stop: Surf, skate, and JACKLOPE Block Party

If you made it here, you’re at the final stop of our ROAD TRIP TO JACKALOPE BLOCK PARTY VENTURA series.

We started in Camarillo, made our way through Port Hueneme and Oxnard… and now we’ve finally reached Ventura. If you skipped ahead, I highly recommend going back and reading the full road trip from the beginning, because this is where it all comes together.

This was it. The final stop. We kicked off our 2-day stay in Ventura with an insane crew: Arisa Trew, Jada Ward, Collin Graham, and Derek Scott. Honestly, couldn’t have asked for a better group. The vibe was immaculate.

DAY 1

We woke up early for a sunrise surf sesh. Our friend Chipper bro from Surfclass hooked us up with boards and wetsuits. The water was already full of locals and they were so cool with us; the waves were smooth and super fun to surf. Our Australian girls showed us what’s up, and David even caught his first-ever wave!

We stopped back at the hotel right in front of the surf spot for a quick breakfast at Moofish Cafe’, then headed to Grant Park/Serra Cross for one of the best views in Ventura. From there… it was all about bombing hills and cruising the streets. Between the beautiful views and the super sweet locals, Ventura really has the best energy.

It was the perfect warm-up for our next stop of the day: the brand-new Westpark Skatepark. The crew skated for a couple of hours, Arisa even went for a street session, and we even got a visit from a very special skater: Rowdy Dachshund. All that skating worked up an appetite, so we grabbed a round of tacos for the crew from Taqueria Doña Raquel (we love tacos, haha)

Just a heads up for the night owls: the lights at the park aren't super strong, so try to get your clips in before it gets too dark!

DAY 2

We started the day strong with biggest acai bowl for breakfast from CAJÉ Coffee, so good you have to try them. To digest, we stopped for a street session with JM and Micah. While we were there, two guys on motocross bikes passed by and gave us a wheelie show haha.

It was super sunny that day so we headed to the Harborfor poke bowls and huge onion rings at the Harbor Cove Café. Then, we jumped on a small boat to cruise the harbor and saw some seals again (fighting for a girl this time... what a show). There is an ice cream place called Coastal Cone and you HAVE to try the "Taiyaki" (the hot fish cone). Still dreaming about it.

Full of ice cream, we decided to "digest" with a tasting at the local distillery, Ventura Spirits. The staff was so nice and it was really cool to see how they work. They have some amazing products and their mission to reduce waste is a huge plus.

To keep the local vibes going on our way back to the hotel, we swung by Chapter 11. If you're looking for the sickest surf shop in town, this is it. The vibes are on point and every single thing they sell is dope.

We went for sunset drinks at the hotel’s Aqua Beachfront Bar and caught an insane sky! The food and drinks were great, and we felt really lucky to just soak in that moment.

To finish our trip, we hit Topa Topa Brewing Co. David was (and still is) shocked by the Hop Water. It’s 0% ABV, zero carbs, and gluten-free, but for him, it tasted exactly like a beer. MINDBLOWN. We also stopped by Tony’s Pizza to say hi to the owner and shared a beer (805, obviously). By the way, our Friday After Party presented by 805 Beer is happening right there, you don’t want to miss it!
