What a first day to kick off JACKALOPE Montreal 2026! The crowd was hyped, the energy was electric, and the skaters went all-out to set the tone for the weekend.
We saw MASSIVE airs and mind-blowing technical moves from both the women’s and men’s categories as the Best Trick session completely blew the roof off the venue.
STARTING THE NIGHT LOUD
Before the skaters even hit the ramp, the Moto X and BMX demos set the mood and got the whole venue shaking. The engine roars, tire squeals, and high-flying stunts brought pure noise starting the night the right way and hyping up the crowd for the action to follow!
WOMEN'S BEST TRICK
The women’s division brought serious style and heavy moves to the ramp, keeping the crowd roaring throughout the entire session. Bryce Wettstein brought her signature flow, stomping a remarkably smooth fakie heel grab, while Nina Ye left everyone jaw-dropped by spinning a heavy 540 straight over the channel. Wrapping up the session with the biggest air contest, Mizuho Hasegawa stole the show by launching a sky-high 9 feet out of the coping to close out the division! A huge shoutout goes to Malorie Query, the only girl repping Quebec in the lineup, who got a massive hometown reaction every time she dropped in!
MEN'S BEST TRICK
The men’s session went pure wild with a mix of heavy spins, gap transfers, and unbelievable height. Hudson Walker brought down the house by locking in his classic 900 on his very first try. Collin Graham put on a total masterclass over the gap, shutting down the course with a clean fakie ollie over the channel blindside and following it up with a stylish alley-oop kick lien. Closing out the entire night, the session capped off with the biggest air contest, where JD Sanchez took the ultimate crown by blasting a jaw-dropping 12 feet out of the ramp for the highest air of the evening.
What a way to put day 1 in the books! A massive shoutout to all the athletes who put it on the line and to the fans who brought the noise from start to finish.
